“NO” is a Beautiful Word

IMG_6834Here are some thoughts from Cheryl Richardson’s lecture on Getting Comfortable with Saying No:

“No” defines the quality of our lives, the quality of our relationships, the work we do and how we are of service.

We’re not here to help everybody.  We’re not here to fix people.  We’re here to show up fully.  Some people don’t want to be helped and some are not ready to be helped.

Everyone needs to take off 30% of what’s on their plate.

Take your time to evaluate a situation.  Do not give an answer on someone else’s time frame.  Say “Let me sleep on it” or “Let me get back to you.”  Be gentle with yourself if you don’t get it right.  Give yourself room to grow.

Ask yourself, “Will this choice honor my soul?”  “Do I feel full or depleted?”

You can’t live a full, rich, conscious life without getting comfortable with the concept of rocking the boat.

I really enjoyed being reminded of this wisdom and support.  (That’s me, Ellie, speaking!)
