Global Citizen

photo 5-7Did anyone see the Global Citizen Festival in New York yesterday? I caught the end of it on tv.  The organization has a remarkable goal to end extreme poverty worldwide by 2030.   We have the resources to do it.  Artists, world leaders and common people coming together to bring attention to the condition of people throughout the world is a powerful message.

It was the first time I felt a groundswell of impatience for raising the quality of life for a billion people.  I heard over and over again that extreme poverty is unacceptable.  All life is one life.  Technology has made us all one community making it impossible to ignore the ravages of poverty.  Health, education, dignity, food sources and safety are all issues that need to be rights of life.

I think that one of our basic needs is to feel that we are contributing to making the world a better place.  There are many ways to do this.  Whether on a small personal scale or globally, people helping people is deeply healing.  I’m feeling inspired to find a way that calls me.

How about you?  Your thoughts?
