Help for the Sweet Lover

The holidays are here! You know what that means…lots of desserts! Everywhere you turn there are candy canes and frosted chocolate cake, apple pie and creamy custard, not to mention M and M’s and Hershey’s kisses on every counter top. This is the precursor to the boost in gym attendance in January.

But there might be a way to help us say no to some desserts. It comes in the form of a fairly unknown spice called Fenugreek. It doesn’t have a strong flavor and goes well with Indian spices such as turmeric and curry. I came across an article online that talked about one of its properties being reducing sugar cravings. It tried it out and found it to be true for me. This is not a double blind study, just my experience. I grind up the seeds and sprinkle them on eggs, roasted vegetables, salad dressings, fish and baked potatoes. Later in the day I realize that I hadn’t craved sweets at all. It just might help us reduce the inflammation-producing damage of sugar.

Try it and let me know what you think. And, my sincerest wishes for Happy and Healthy Holidays to you!!!!
