Meet Être, an inspirational resource site created for the middle school set when girls are their most authentic selves yet vulnerable to peer pressure and societal values. I learned about this site created by my cousin yesterday. Être means “to be” in French and is designed to encourage girls to stay true to the things they love offering links and encouragement for pursuing science, art, writing or playing professional sports. The goal is to remind girls that they can be whomever they want to be and to open up that conversation. www.etregirls.com
This caught my attention because it is an example of a young woman, my cousin Illana Raia, pursuing a topic that she is passionate about. She used her ingenuity and experience in the professional world to create something that didn’t exist before to help girls grow into fulfilled, accomplished, generous and responsible adults who live fully and give back at the same time.
