The Monster Storm

IMG_2458To everyone who was affected by the epic snowstorm, I hope that you are safe and warm. The statistics and pictures were mind-boggling.  May you be able to get back to normal life soon, and maybe enjoy some part of the forced respite.

In case you are in the mood for a little comic relief, here is a story.

I was at a luncheon last week, a fund-raiser for a local women’s shelter. About thirty women from my neighborhood brought food for our lunch and food and housewares for the shelter.  When I told a neighbor that I recently moved here, she insisting on giving me an example to describe life in Santa Fe. “It’s like this,” she said. “Imagine that you are at a dinner party. The person on your left is an opera singer. The person on your right is a retired nuclear physicist. The person across from you was abducted by a space ship and wants to tell you about his journey!” I get it, cultured and sophisticated, intelligent and accomplished, alternative and quirky.  That sounds about right!
