There is a new person in the world! My daughter had a baby two weeks ago. Soft and warm, sweet and pure, a new little boy was born. Everything that he does is miraculous, from opening his eyes to sucking and pooping, and the adults who love him marvel at each accomplishment. He has a built-in audience who will witness his journey through life in awe and wonderment.
As with all children, this child will learn about the world that his parents live in. They will get many opportunities to explain the world as they see it to him. As parents we pass on what we have learned to our children who magnify and reflect those values back to us. Parents and children are both teachers and students for each other. And when the bottles are washed and the laundry is folded, this Mimi will be on the sidelines with a glass of wine watching it all with joy and gratitude for the ongoing experience of life.
