Santa Fe is bursting with people who have moved here in their retirement, but they are anything but sedentary and retired from life. They are vibrant, productive members of the community who give their time, energy and experience to benefit others. They mentor young mothers, read with elementary school children, give out food to the homeless, oversee houses built for Houses for Humanity and comfort people on Hospice. I have friends who do all of these things. There is a plethora of ways to be involved and to help.
People who have retired from careers have so much to give. They are a valuable national resource who can pass on wisdom and support our youth as they learn their own lessons. Let’s celebrate our retired work force who are busier than they were when working full-time!
