Does It Hit the Mark?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI wish that people would say what they mean, rather than use trite platitudes that are impersonal. Overused and unoriginal, they leave me wanting a more personal, unique expression. Did you hear me? Do you get it? They don’t feel satisfying. It’s like someone threw a dart and missed. Here is a glimpse into my psyche and what some common sayings mean to me.

This too shall pass. (I hate this one!)
Translation: I don’t have a clue how to help you feel better.

Don’t make a mountain out of a molehill.
Translation: Your feelings are scaring me!

Welcome to my world.
Translation: I’m tired of talking about you.

God only gives you what you can handle.
Translation: I’m hungry. Is dinner ready yet?

It builds strong character.
Translation: I’m glad it didn’t happen to me!

Let bygones be bygones.
Translation: I wonder if I ever treated someone that way.

All is fair in love and war.
Translation: I can’t get away from this conversation fast enough!
