Calling It Quits on Election Mania

photo 4(1)I have spent so much time eating in front of the tv glued to election news that my food has begun to taste like the candidates. Breakfast with Morning Joe and scrambled eggs taste like Trump, buttered toast like Rubio and avocado like Cruz.

Dinner with Lester Holt is no better. Roasted chicken tastes like Clinton and steamed squash and kale like Sanders. Sipping steaming hot tea evokes polls and coconut milk popsicles demand primary results.

A few weeks ago I wrote a blog about creating a calm, peaceful atmosphere while eating, but I have succumbed to election hysteria. I fall asleep to vitriolic debate mania and wake up glad that I have had a break from the corrosive animalistic aggression.

I’m calling it quits. They will have to go on without me. I’m limiting my addiction to election chatter and it’s off limits before I go to bed.

I know exactly what you mean! I stayed away from Facebook for a while because of all the political nonsense that had me churning inside. I’ve been watching the news and debates, knowing that this is a very important time for us and trying to practice sending love and understanding for the mixed up and unconnected souls out there. I sometimes cant decide of I’m watching comedy or tragedy, and like you I will limit what I am exposed to and just be love. Hugs!
