Blowing Away the Smokescreen

FullSizeRender-72Have you ever been plagued with troubling thoughts? My friend says that there is a dark attic in his brain and he keeps it locked because he is afraid to go into that room.

Here’s another way to look at it. There are times when those thoughts pop up into our consciousness and other times when they are kept at bay. Instead of trying to dissect the thoughts, ask yourself what you are doing at the time that brings them up. That is as valid an approach as the other. The thoughts are always there but usually don’t interfere with our lives. Maybe they come up because you are uncomfortable with what you are doing or feeling at that moment. Being honest about how you feel can dissipate the unwanted thoughts that function as a smokescreen to divert you from facing your uncomfortable feelings. I tried it last week and it was enlightening.

Do you know what I mean?
